The layout and hierarchy of the buildings is designed in such a way that suggests an evolutionary growth over a long period of time.
The main living, dining and kitchen areas and the separate garage/guest lodge are conceived as being the earliest buildings and have external walls predominantly constructed in stone.
The bedroom wing is however conceived as a later addition with lightweight construction externally clad on cedar boarding.
The character of these spaces is also different internally with the older spaces having a more robust rustic feel with some more recent modern interventions while the bedroom wing will be clean and contemporary.
